Beat The Flu
It's official, flu season is in full swing and isn’t showing signs of slowing down. Here are some tips to Be the Cure when fighting the flu:
If you haven't been exposed yet, get a flu shot.
Drink plenty of water, bone broth, and herbal tea.
Get enough sleep to allow your body to heal.
Supplement vitamins C, D, and Zinc to boost your immune system. Try fortifying yourself using whole foods such as strawberries, mangoes, orange juice, eggs, and whole grains.
Avoid sugar, it suppresses your immune system and feeds the bad bacteria in your gut.
Use hot showers and humidifiers to clear your nasal passages.
Supplement with ginger. Ginger contains gingerol, a powerful medicinal property and is an anti-inflammatory spice. It can help reduce nausea, muscle aches, and soreness. It can be used fresh, dried, or as a juice. Take ginger shots or drops.
Take probiotics. Probiotics will help produce “good bacteria” in the gut to help reduce the risk of infections.
Lemon Ginger Syrup
2 lemons, sliced
2 pieces fresh ginger, sliced
12 oz jar
Alternating, layer lemon and ginger slices in jar.
Pour honey slowly over slices and fill jar.
Store in refrigerator.
As needed, scoop 2-3 tablespoons of syrup into a mug of hot water. Be sure to get a few pieces of lemon and ginger as well. Steep 3-5 minutes and enjoy.
